Atop Nana's Mountain

Snow angels and shots of Glayva atop Nana's Mountain (aka Tunnel Mountain) is how Emmett, Oscar, their parents and Auntie Clare remembered Nana yesterday. Oscar caught a ride on his Dad's back, while Emmett hiked the entire mountain almost by himself. They've been hiking up this mountain on March 30th for the past three years in honour of her, to remember her laughter and catch a glimpse of her spirit from high up on a cold winter's day. 

We sure do miss you, Nana.

Modern technology

StranMcCann joined the wave of new technology recently. They purchased a MICROWAVE OVEN and are now current with 1960's gadgets. (Truth be told, the microwave was purchased in August and sat in the furnace room until earlier this week, when Emmett's Mom, tired of drinking cold tea, cracked it open and set it up).

Emmett is quite fascinated with it.

Preschool curriculum

Sick Emmett

Fever 39.1 degrees Celsius.
Sore, fire engine red throat with suspicious white spots.
General malaise.
Diagnosis?
Maybe strep. Maybe just a throat infection. Definitely a sad, not his usual self, Emmett.


But, don't let the sad eyes deceive you. Crafty creature that he is, he quickly learned to milk being sick. On the way home from the doctor..

"Mommy?"

"Yes, Emmett?"

"Can I have macaroni and cheese for supper and a Popsicle?"

"Well, that's not what I made for supper tonight, Emmett."

"Oh, but Mommy, I'm sick. I need lots of Apple juice and Popsicles and macaroni and cheese when I'm sick!"

"Nice try, Emmett. I'm totally onto you..."*

Fortunately, baby brother Oscar has not succumbed to the illness ...yet.


(*Emmett's Mom, though generally not a short order cook, did make Emmett Mac and cheese for supper. Yes, she's a softie...especially when her babies are sick)

Five months old

Emmett enjoys a day outside without snow pants as a Chinook brings some warm weather to winter weary residents. And Oscar celebrates his five month birthday.
