Whatcha gonna do, brother

When you find yourself resorting to high school wrestling moves to get your 2 year-old into a diaper in the morning, even if you win, you lose.  And sometimes you just plain lose.

Bull in a china shop

Curious to see what kind of damage he can cause while barricaded in his Gramma's dining room, Emmett's dad watches helplessly as Emmett unexpectedly unleashes toddler fury on his own face.

Interesting footnote: The tune playing on Emmett's grandparents' radio is Help I'm Alive, by Canadian indie band Metric. The fact that Emmett eats it at the very instant they sing, "If I stumble," is purely coincidental. Even Emmett's dad can't edit that well.

Four months old

The "balloon boy" father begins his 90 day jail sentence today. The Olympic torch continues it's trek across Canada, and is due in town next week. Canada Post increases the price of stamps, from 54 cents to 57 cents. The Barenaked Ladies and Bart Simpson celebrate their 20th anniversary. Weibo Ludwig 'helps' the RCMP with their gasline bombing investigation. And Emmett turns four months old.

Emmett continues to favour sucking his hands over playing with his toys. However, he has recently discovered books, and is teaching himself how to read.

Emmett's mom had to break the news that he will be getting his four month vaccinations tomorrow. Emmett, once again, was not very excited at the thought of those shots.

Three bears in the bed, and the little one said...

Emmett's mom had witnessed it before, but this was the first confirmed sighting for Emmett's dad. Volume up.

CAUTION: At 113 seconds, this video is a little longer than the others. I just couldn't bring myself to leave any of this on the cutting room floor.

Two months old

To celebrate his two month birthday yesterday, Emmett took his parents out on the town. First to the Remembrance Day ceremonies at the war memorial, and then to the H1N1 vaccination clinic where they got their shots. He's too young to receive the shot, but served as a backstage pass to get his parents in as part of a high risk group.

At his two month checkup, Emmett's doctor was pleased to report that he is growing like a weed. Weight and head circumference are right where they should be, and his height continues to be off the chart compared to other babies his age. That NBA contract is looking more promising.

Emmett was pleased to hear that news too, though not so pleased to hear he has to get his vaccinations next week...

Giggle or cry?

Emmett's mom says he's giggling. Emmett's dad says he's revving things up for a big ol' scream.
