Leap Year Baby

Happy Birthday to our most favourite ten year old. When you only get a birthday once every four years, you gotta celebrate big. So Daddy is 'at a meeting' in Vancouver with Cousin Mike for breakfast, having taken advantage of the WestJet 'leap year babies fly for $16' sale.
He'll be back in time for his big birthday party, complete with hot dogs, orange pop, chips and cake. Seems fitting for a ten year old.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

The only thing better than watching Emmett sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star"...

is watching Emmett watch himself singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star". (please note: unfortunate sound malfunction while recording with an iPhone. But his facial expressions are quite entertaining...)

Family Day fun

Take a bunch of snow and a French-Canadian woman with a kettle.
Add some hot maple syrup.

Wait until it cools. Then roll it up.

Insert in mouth.

Result: one Daddy reliving his youth, one Emmett getting 160% of his daily dose of manganese, and

three sticky pairs of snowpants.

Gramma would be proud.

2012 Intercontinental G1 Tribute Buzz-A-Thon

As a means of paying tribute to Emmett's great Uncle Doug and great Aunt Jac who are scrapping with cancer at the moment, Emmett's dad, a couple of uncles, and a bunch of cousins significantly reduce the R-value in their respective attics... just in time for Valentine's Day.

Here they are, age before beauty:

I do not wish to go for my nap...

...therefore I will throw my hat and taunt my parents from the spot on the driveway on which I recline defiantly.

The highlight of a four year old's birthday party

Emmett and his parents ventured out for Wyatt's fourth birthday party last weekend. The highlight? Not the swimming pool. Not the treasure chest pirate cake. It was all the new toys to play with, and a big screen t.v.

The t.v. went on, the little boys grabbed their trucks, and planted themselves on the couch. They sat like this, mesmerized, for at least an hour. It was the best part of the party. (especially for the parents!)

Emmett peed in the potty!

Breaking news
The shouts of glee could be heard all over the northeast..."He peed in the potty! Emmett peed in the potty!"

While brushing his teeth last night, naked as usual, Emmett got down off his stool, mumbled something about having to go potty, then started peeing on the floor. His Mom, careful not to react to the stream flooding the bathroom, grabbed the potty, opened it, and calmly directed Emmett to sit on it. However, the mess had been made, and she was certain the opportunity was lost. "I saw the pee on the floor, and figured, oh well, at least he told us he had to go. That's a start. Next time, he'll make it to the potty."

Taking her attention away for mere seconds to call to Emmett's Dad to bring some rags, she turned back to discover Emmett was still peeing, this time in the potty! Emmett's Mom and Dad cheered and applauded, as Emmett sat naked on his potty, looking up at them blankly. Little did his parents know, he had been using the potty for a month at daycare.
