The challenges of parenthood

Emmett's parents are still a little shaky after witnessing Emmett barf last night. Poor Emmett. He was just terrified. How do you explain barf to a two year old? It was his first time, and he did not understand what on earth was happening. Where did this come from? Why is Daddy breathing through his mouth instead of his nose? Why did Mommy run away? What IS this stuff anyways? He was up all night with repeat performances.

The good news is that he was fine in the morning.
His parents had to order triple espressos to get through the day.
The challenges of parenthood.

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) they did not capture the event on film for the blog. So in the absence of photographic evidence (you're welcome!), they'll offer up an image of Emmett during a less traumatic time.

Strawberry snitching....er....picking

Take four kids and two Moms. Throw them all in a minivan. Drive them to The Jungle Farm for a day of strawberry picking (or in some cases, snitching).

Watch as the kids spend approximately three minutes in the strawberry fields before losing interest. Fortunately, the Jungle Farm is made for kids, with a pirate ship, train, race track, live tractor and lots of space to run around in.

The Moms pick like mad, taking the opportunity to catch up and snitch a few berries themselves.

The kids still take all the credit.
But that's okay. The Moms are happy...

and they all sit down to enjoy a picnic lunch before heading back to the city,

in an extremely quiet car.

Another great year of strawberry picking for Emmett's Mom.
(Special thanks to Molly, Eddie, Charlotte, and Natalie!)

Peas, Boppa, Peas!!!

While his Grampa teaches him how to shell fresh peas, Emmett perfects the art of eating them. Both shelled and unshelled. His 'Boppa', as Emmett has taken to calling him, takes it all in stride, and eventually, they strike a rhythm. Emmett passes Boppa the peas, Boppa shells them, and Emmett eats them.

Emmett and Grampa's inner child

With his two year old magic and energy, Emmett manages to coax Grampa's inner child to come out and play...

Huh? Yes, that's Grampa in the Hurricane Simulator, at the top of the Calgary Tower. One might ask, 'Where is Emmett? Is he hiding behind Grampa?' Nope, Grampa headed into the simulator on his own. (Emmett clearly has a knack for inspiring childlike behaviour!) More importantly, one might also ask, 'WHY is there a Hurricane Simulator in ALBERTA?'
